The Manchester College was created in 2008 by the merger of two colleges. We offer an unprecedented range of courses and cutting edge facilities. The college Apprenticeship programme is an important part of the package of training we offer young people. 2. Why should I choose an Apprenticeship! ?
Apprenticeships suit anyone who is looking for a vocational trade.
As an Apprentice, you will be paid a wage by your company and as an apprentice with The Manchester College you will be allocated your own designated training assessor.
The assessor will visit you at work on a regular basis and will ensure that the jobs you need to undertake to help evidence your Main Aim ( usually a National Vocational Qualification but this may vary) provided by your employer. The assessor will also help ensure that everything at work and at college (if applicable) is progressing to an agreed schedule and will advise you throughout your apprenticeship and give you guidance about future training when you have completed your apprenticeship.
Apprenticeships are designed to help staff become competent and better performers with their company.
The benefits are;
a) Training linked to your job role at your employer;
b) A training pro! gramme that allows you to work and get paid;
c) A quality trai! ning programme that is delivered to the latest industry standards and in college premises with the best facilities;

In some cases this element will be delivered on employer premises.
In addition the apprentice is required to gather evidence from jobs they do with their employer, to support a mai! n aim ( usually a National Vocational Qualification). The Technical Cer! tificate and NVQ are awarded by a recognised examination body such as City and Guilds, EDXCEL, OCR, Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) and form the basis of an Apprenticeship Award which usually takes between 18 months and 2 years.
5. Applying for an Advertised Vacancy on this Site
Most of our vacancies on this site can be applied for electronically. Your application will be acknowledged and after the closing date the employer will select suitable candidates for interview and contact you if you have been selected. You will be notified electronically if you have not been successful which will allow you to look for an alternative opportunity or apply to the college for a general apprenticeship (see section 6).
6. What if I donât have an Employer?
The vacancies on this site are linked to employers, but you can still apply to the college for an Apprenticeship if you can't see the type of vacancy you are looking for in the vacancy section! s. The college has developed links with employers and the college themselves employ apprentices, so there are several ways that we can increase the number of employment opportunities available to prospective applicants.
When you apply you will normally be interviewed and if accepted, offered a place subject to a satisfactory employer been identified. If you know of an employer who is willing to employ you as an apprentice complete the relevant section on the application form. On completion of the Apprenticeship, you may be able to progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship at level 3 which will take an additional 1 to 2 years to achieve.
We also offer full time courses if you don't have an employer straight away. The full time courses will enable you to gain skills at college that you can then take to an employer at a later stage. If a suitable employer is then identified you can then transfer onto an apprenticeship programme to complete your training.
We are sure that The Manchester College training opportunities will! be right for you and we hope you will now want to enquire further. Please contact our Course Enquiry team for more information about applying for a general apprenticeship position.
