This is an exciting opportunity based in Manchester for a highly professional Data Migration Specialist keen to join a profitable and rapidly expanding global business. The Data Migration Specialist position is responsible for developing solutions to ensure that exam content is loaded into the Pearson VUE Exam/Test Development system via a standardised process. Content is received from clients in various formats and then transformed i! nto a standard format prior to loading into the system. The st! ructure of the data can vary between clients and potentially even within a client. It is then checked to ensure that the content matches the original supplied and can be loaded without error, while managing exceptions.
The Data Migration Specialist will be confident using data formats including; RTF, HTML, XML and plain text. Success of this position will be measured through the accuracy and efficiency of data loads.
This position provides a key role within the test development cycle to ensure that the data Pearson VUE receives from clients is loaded accurately and to tight deadlines. The Data Migration Specialist will interact with Product Specialists, Application Consultants, Content Developers, Test/Exam Publishers and clients, on data loading projects.
The Data Migration Specialist will work with clients, colleagues in the UK and US with the aim of developing and documenting automated processes using advanced techniques. The impact will be a more accurate an! d automated process working towards the elimination of errors.
Essential skills, Qualifications and competencies:
Bachelor's degree in a Technology related area or equivalent experience.
Experience with XML, HTML, SQL or other Scripting languages.
Experience and understanding of software programming, testing and quality assurance concepts.
Confident in the use of Microsoft Office products and technologies, particularly Excel.
Detailed, logical and common sense approach to objectives, goals and projects.
A self-starter and can-do' attitude.
Methodical attention to detail
The ability to be proactive and organised, in a fast moving, and often pressurised environment.
Excellent knowledge of English language (written and oral).
Strong organisational skills coupled with the ability to work on own initiative.
A strong communicator; able to work in a team environment and communicate across multiple cultures.
Desirable ! Skills
Experience of data transformation
XSLT Knowledge
Mac! ro or VBA knowledge
